Beto: Living the dream
Beto: Living the Dream is a comedy-drama with eight thirty-minute episodes, plus a bonus Christmas episode. The plot revolves around Beto, a Brazilian living illegally in the United States. The series portrays the motivations, challenges, disappointments, and achievements of a Brazilian who chooses to live abroad, while always maintaining a sense of lightheartedness and hope, making the experience enjoyable for the viewer. Originally, the series aims to contrast expectations—sometimes stemming from an idealized emotional memory based on films and TV series—with the real experience of living in a linguistically and culturally diverse context. The series presents Beto as a central character, but subplots involving Beto and secondary characters, as well as parallel plots involving the supporting characters, will have room for development. After all, the other characters in the series have their own experiences independent of Beto, although their lives often intersect.
In 2025, the English version of the script (Beto: Living the dream) received an Honorable Mention at the Hollywood Stage Script Film Competition in the USA, as well as being a finalist at the Pageant Film Festival in India and being in the quarterfinals of the renowned The Big Break Screenwriting Contest in Burbank, California.
It was also a finalist at the Pageant Film Festival and won Best Foreign Screenplay at the Los Angeles Short Film Awards.
